The Blues Music Awards brings together Blues performers, industry representatives, and fans from all over the world to celebrate the best in Blues recordings and performances from the previous year. The BMAs are generally recognized as the highest honor given to blues musicians and are awarded by vote of Blues Foundation members.
After 20+ BMA nominations throughout his now three-decade-long career, Nick Moss finally brought home a statue last year in the 40th Annual Blues Music Awards for “Traditional Blues Male Artist,” while Dennis Gruenling earned his first trophy for “Blues Instrumentalist: Harmonica.”
This year, the guys are up for a few more honors. Remember you can VOTE in the BMAs simply by being a member of the Blues Foundation. Join today to show your support for both the venerable Blues organization, as well as Nick, Dennis and the band.
All Blues Foundation members in good standing, whose dues are current, will receive a final ballot during the voting period. Any member who renews his or her membership or joins as a new member during the voting period will also receive a ballot. Voting is now open and will officially close at NOON CST on February 28, 2020 at which point no additional ballots will be accepted.

It’s great to see Nick Moss and Dennis Gruenling receiving recognition after so many years of dedication to blues music. Awards like the Blues Music Awards really show how much passion and hard work go into keeping the genre alive and appreciated by fans around the world. I also enjoy how communities come together to support artists they admire. That same sense of loyalty and excitement reminds me of players sharing their love for games like Slope Rider and celebrating progress together.
Blues Music Award nominations go to artists who have put in the real work on stages that most people will never see and Nick Moss with Dennis Gruenling earning that recognition is well deserved. Their chemistry is not something manufactured in a studio it comes from years of playing together and understanding each other musically without needing to say a word. Had their album on repeat during breaks from onsite training last month and a few guys in my group who had never listened to blues before ended up asking for the playlist. Good music finds its audience regardless of genre labels.
